Mozambique Land Reform and Rural Transformation Overview
Mozambique was colonised by the Portuguese until 1975 when the Frente de Libertação de Moçambique (FRELIMO) government under President Mondlane, took over power at the dawn of independence. The architecture, motivation and character of colonial land policies in Mozambique were similarly racially discriminatory and exploitative as those introduced under various colonial administrations in Southern Africa.
